By Carlos SanchezAthletic director of football, Charles Chips, has admitted he’s been “a little bit lucky” to play alongside Sanchez in his career.
“I’ve had a lot of chances in my career, so to have a great player like him, who’s just so confident, who really works hard, who is so confident with the ball, and who is willing to go to the extreme is a privilege,” he said.
“I’m very lucky.
He’s such a great person.
I think we’ve had so many great moments with him.”
Chips’ first job was as the sporting director of Barcelona in 2010.
The former Bayern Munich and Barcelona boss was promoted to the top job in 2011, following the appointment of Pep Guardiola, but Chips was fired from his role after just one year in charge.
He later worked as the head of the international scouting department at Barcelona’s Camp Nou, and he took over at the Spanish giants as the manager in 2017.
Chips believes the Chilean’s ability to adapt and adapt quickly is the reason he has been so successful.
“There’s a great respect between us.
He is someone who always has a great desire to do the right thing, to improve the team,” he explained.”
That’s why he’s always ready to talk, to explain.
When I spoke with him recently, I said: ‘Look, you have a good chance, I’ve never had a chance like this’.”
He’s a fantastic person.
He has a very good character.
It’s been great to be around him.
