Chip ingam says he has a chip in the “works” for 2019 and says it’s a “big step forward”.
The 20-year-old’s father, Mark, who runs the Melbourne-based chipmaker, said Chip in has been working on the new chip for some time and is confident it will be ready to go next year.
“It’s a big step forward,” Mr Ingam said.
“We’ve been doing our best to ensure the chips have been properly designed and that it’s the right fit for the future.”
The new chip will be powered by a 28nm FinFET process and the first chip will come out of the chip fabrication facility in Bayswater.
“The next year will be really exciting for us,” Mr Stirling said.
Chip in has already produced chips for chipsets from Samsung and Micron, as well as its own chip.
